Apple Watch mit Verkaufsrekorden - und ein Blick in die Zukunft!

Apple Watch with sales records - and a look into the future!

Just a niche product? Meanwhile, the Apple Watch is selling better than ever, which should be a clear sign that the smartwatch is on the up. In particular, a look at the figures for the last quarter underlines this once again impressively!

It should of course be noted that this is the 4th quarter of 2016 and therefore also the Christmas business. Traditionally, high-priced Apple products are often seen under the Christmas tree, so such a strong trend will not be observed in the coming quarters. However, the sales figures do not have to hide: Apple was able to sell 4.6 million units during this period. These are the Apple Watch Series 1 and 2 and the original Apple Watch combined.

growth and records

Apple's market share in this segment is 13.6%, only Fitbit and Xiaomi have even more devices - but strictly speaking, these are also devices that are explicitly tailored to athletes and actually not much with the Apple Watch have in common. In any case, sales are bubbling up, compared to the same quarter last year, Apple was able to sell 13% more devices to men and women. The Cupertino-based company has not disclosed exact earnings figures.

The reduced price for the smaller models and the improved user interface in the latest watchOS are said to be responsible for the growth. The Apple Watch no longer feels like a device for developers, but for average users who are looking for a practical smartwatch for everyday use. The focus on sports activities - for example in the form of the Nike+ Watch or the GPS sensor and the waterproof production of the Series 2 - have also played their part in record sales.

New impetus from the Apple Watch 3?

It doesn't take a genius to foresee that Apple has been working on the third edition of the Watch for a long time. Accordingly, this smartwatch should also be the next fuse for more sales: LTE support is probably floating through the rumor mill, with which the Apple Watch could then enjoy much more autonomy. The connection to the iPhone would then perhaps no longer be absolutely necessary - although the performance of the smartphone would of course still be in demand for certain apps.

The production of the touch panel on the OLED display should also probably be changed: the user will not necessarily notice anything of this, but the production would be cheaper and the Apple Watch could be manufactured faster, that too Bracelets for the Apple Watch. In the coming months, fans of the smartwatch will be able to see (or rather put on their wrists) a much better model! Apple Armband just.
